Ariel of The Hostess Helper joins me again with her very special Modern Galentine’s Day Party. 12 Tips for Hosting Your Own Modern Galentine’s Day Party

• Use different size vases filled with roses, carnations and ranunculus in shades of pink and red. The flowers featured here are from Farm Girl Flowers and they can ship their pretty blooms to you.

• Display candles in assorted sizes and colors to match your party.

• Kate Spade inspired decor with black and white stripes brings in the modern vibe.

• Place printable signs into frames for extra fun decor details on the table. These signs were from Sweet Rain Designs and read “all you need is love and a cupcake” and “she has a way with words, red lipstick, and making an entrance”.

• Continue with the black and white decor with your serving platters and a cute x’s and o’s table runner - both from Pier 1.

• For food - keep it simple and order take-out for the main portion and then you can focus on making the desserts extra special.

• Create a treat board with chocolate covered pretzels from Whole Foods Market, black & white and red velvet cupcakes from Sprinkles, long stem strawberries, Maggie Louise Confections’ lipstick shaped chocolates, Hershey Kisses, and M&Ms. There were even custom macarons from The Sweet Smith that matched the theme.

• Using elements that relate to each other will pull the entire party theme together - for instance the Kate Spade quote about lipstick and the Maggie Louise Confections’ chocolate lipsticks. Ariel likes to focus on the small details to make the party feel personalized. And, I absolutely agree - those little details are always noticed by party guests and make it so much more special for them.

• Create special gift boxes for your girlfriends to take home with them. Ariel packaged up the goodies inside makeup bags from Sweet Water Decor and tucked inside there were socks from Target, Customized Valentine’s Day chocolate covered pretzels from Fatty Sundays, and Baked By Melissa 6 pack of cupcakes.

PS: For purchases from Sweet Water Decor, if you use code “hostess_helper” at checkout, you will receive 25% off your order.

• Ariel wrapped the cover of the cupcake box in black and white wrapping paper and filled the inside of each gift box with pink tissue paper and my very own Festive Fetti confetti.

• Have your guests enjoy their party sweets on Meri Meri pink and gold heart shaped plates.

• Serve drinks in Kate Spade NY gold striped glasses.

Ariel’s best advice for anyone hosting a Galentine’s day party is to have fun with it. I love that she says “it’s okay to get messy with your tablescape design”

Vintage Garden Birthday Party Ideas for Tweens

This Vintage Garden Birthday Party was created with Tweens in mind. The colorful photography by Honeysuckle Rose Photography captures the innocence of the little girls that still exist in the tween years. This styled shoot was inspired by the photographers grand-daughter who will be 13 soon. I love what Melissa wrote below and having two girls of my own with my oldest turning 11 later this year, it's really hits home. Let them be girls.

It amazes me how I can be watching her be silly and behaving like such a little girl, then in a blink of the eye she is having a very mature conversation with me. Children are pushed to grow up too fast. Tweens are at a very awkward age and still glow of the innocence of little girls. Let them be girls. Silly, laughing, playing dress up with their friends. They will be beautiful young ladies soon enough.

Vintage Garden Birthday Party DIY Photo Booth Props / Hang Photo Frames from trees to pose behind for fun party photos / Outdoor Garden Party / photo by Honeysuckle Rose Photography - as seen on

The Perfect DIY Photo Booth idea for outdoor garden parties - hang photo frames from the tree limbs with pretty ribbon and let the party guests have fun posing behind them.

Present the party favors {in this case, flavored popcorn} in an open vintage dresser drawer.

The vintage garden party dessert display is completed with vintage cake stands and jeweled beads.

Now, it's your turn - I'd love to hear from you in the comments with your favorite idea{s} in this garden birthday party for tweens.

How to Create a “Let it Snow” Dessert Table for your Holiday Party

I am thrilled to be able to share with you this spectacular “Let it Snow” Holiday Party created by Andressa of Twinkle Twinkle Little Party in partnership with Shutterfly. You are going to LOVE the attention to detail and easy to recreate ideas. Today we start with the dessert table - because let’s face it - no party is complete without the sweets, right?

This "Let it Snow" Dessert Table combines touches of modern with rustic with fun and functional stations for both adults and kids. There’s hot cocoa, delicious sweets and even fun crafts.

The snowman cake {created by Josephine Rees} takes center stage for this “Let it Snow” dessert table. And, since it’s always fun to think outside the box, an ordinary cake stand just wouldn’t do. So, a mini sled is used as the cake display to keep the winter holiday theme going strong along with tree branches being added to the snowman for a realistic touch.

Other yummy treats included holiday themed cookies designed by Blue Sugar Cookie & Co. And, there was even vanilla cupcakes sprinkled with coconut flakes for the feeling of a winter wonderland.

To showcase the mini bites in a way that didn’t crowd the dessert table with more platters and cake stands, Andrea displayed the mini sweets like a charcuterie board.

Moving onto the take home party favors - milk bottles were decorated with white boas and topped with a snowman hat. The same idea was used with the DIY take-home favor - plastic Christmas bulbs filled with mini marshmallows.

And, lastly - to complete the entire look of the dessert station - giant glittered snowflakes created the perfect backdrop. There was also a beautifully flocked Christmas tree and holiday garland to finish off the festive look.

Please share your favorite elements from this Let it Snow Dessert Table in the comments.

PS: Be sure to come back as I'll be sharing the design from the Kids Table next time.
